Singing in the Rain

The Weather Channel is a great way to enjoy television as background noise, excluding the primetime shows they now have. You get to know what is going to happen outside to plan your day, but more importantly, you get to listen to some smooth jazz. In case you have never seen it, check out TWC music to get a feel for what you are missing out on.
While this is nothing new, the other day I happened upon the weather channel to be treated to the sounds of the theme to Jaws. As I sat there thinking about how great it was that someone sitting around in the office at the weather channel decided in their great wisdom to choose this track, my mind was brought to just who picks out these songs.
Then it hit me, why not let the people decide. They really ought to allow users to vote on their website for what songs to play when or at least what songs will play for the next month. Features similar to this are available on some new music websites such as: pandora.com, last.fm, lala, and lastly a site called stereo8. Stereo8 allows users to do exactly this, but the site doesn’t seem to be doing too well so far. TWC would have the means to deliver the music while also revitalizing their broadcast. I realize this would never work with how TWC music really works, its really more of a glorified commercial, see weatherchannelmusic.com I just think it would a be a cool way to revitalize something that with the world of instant information for weather is becoming antiquated and unnecessary.
Anyways, just something I think would be neat.
